Eric A. Orzeck, MD, FACE, CDE
Dr. Eric Orzeck earned his medical degree from the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville, VA., and completed his post-graduate training at the University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City, IA.
He completed his first Endocrine Fellowship at the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville, VA. He completed his second Fellowship at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute, now the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, in Houston, TX.
Dr. Orzeck is a Certified Diabetes Educator, and he has been elected to the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators. He has been published over 100 times on the subject of Diabetes and other Endocrine diseases.
The Professional Societies and Associations that Dr. Orzeck is a member of include the Houston Society of Clinical Endocrinology, where he served as President, and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, where he has been appointed to the Coding Committee, Socioeconomic Committee and is chair of the Nuclear Medicine Certifications Board Committee. Dr. Orzeck has also served as President of both the Southeast Texas Chapter of the American Association of Diabetes Educators and the Houston Chapter of the American Diabetes Association. He recently completed a six year term on the Board of Directors of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.
He enjoys his volunteer work with Medical Bridges, an organization which obtains donated medical supplies for shipment to medically underserved areas. He is responsible for repairing and refurbishing electronic items and certifying them to the recipients. In addition, he is a member of the Senior Services department in the city of West University Place, Texas. He provides electrical, plumbing and air conditioning repairs in the homes of those residents certified by the Department as needing assistance.
On the weekends, Dr. Orzeck can be found at various venues where he perfects his zydeco dancing.
Dr. Samir Ouais
Samir Ouais, MD is an experienced, practicing Endocrinologist. Dr. Ouais received his medical degree from the Damascus University - College of Medicine at Damascus College in Damascus, Syria. Dr. Ouais completed his residency at University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City, Iowa. He then went on to complete his fellowship here in Houston at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute at the same time Dr. Orzeck was there completing his fellowship. Ms. Faith Sanders, PA-C has been a Physician Assistant since 1989. She received her degree from Baylor College of Medicine. She has extensive experience working with patients with chronic diseases including diabetes and thyroid disorders. Ms. Sanders has worked in the areas of internal medicine, emergency medicine and endocrinology. She enjoys interacting with people. She is fond of reading in her free time.
Rachel Taylor, BSN, RN, CDE has been working as a diabetes educator and registered nurse since 2009. She received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Stephen F. Austin State University and is licensed as a Registered Nurse in Texas. She is certified as a Certified Diabetes Educator by the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators. She has extensive knowledge about diabetes including experience working with patients on all current insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors on the market. In addition she has lived with Type 1 Diabetes since her 4th birthday.
